Zombies Over Camelot
Based on: Shadows Over Camelot
Hacked by: Kevan
Theme: Zombies
Requires: Optionally, the plastic zombies and survivors from Zombies!!!

Zombies Over Camelot is a theme hack of Serge Lancet and Bruno Cathala's Shadows Over Camelot.

Instead of playing as King Arthur's knights defending their castle from diverse threats and worrying about a possible traitor in their midst, the players are keeping the undead away from Camelot Mall, scouting the surrounding buildings for supplies, and hoping that none of their party are concealing a bite...

[edit] Components

The Master gameboard now shows an aerial view of Camelot Mall and the surrounding area. Camelot becomes Camelot Mall, the Siege Area becomes the Car Park, the Black Knight's arena becomes the Perimeter Fence, and the Saxon and Pict areas become Saxon Road and Pict Street, two roads leading into the car park.

The Lancelot gameboard now represents the Police Station (the Lancelot side) and the Army Base (the Dragon side). Lancelot's Armour is now the Riot Armour.

The Holy Grail gameboard now represents the local Hospital, which is on fire. The Holy Grail is now the Medical Supplies.

The Excalibur gameboard now represents the Gun Store, a shop within the Mall. Excalibur is now the Hunting Rifle.

The black and white Sword tokens become dead and alive Civilian tokens respectively. There are twelve NPC Civilians hiding out in the area surrounding the Mall - a white Sword indicates that a Civilian has been rescued alive, a black Sword confirms that they've been found dead or zombified.

Siege Engines, Picts and Saxons all become Zombies. Since they're interchangeable (and will "move" around the board), it's worth using a generic "zombie" token type, in place of the original game figures.

The seven Knights become seven Survivors. The Traitor among them is now the Infected Survivor - they were bitten before the siege began, and would prefer not to see too many Survivors left when the infection finally kills them.

[edit] Quests

[edit] The Black Knight / The Perimeter Fence

The quest against the Black Knight becomes a mission to repair and barricade the fencing at the far end of Camelot Mall's car park.

When black cards are added to the Perimeter Fence, these indicate fresh undead arriving from the city - playing the card face up means that the Survivor has chosen to stop and count them.

[edit] Lancelot / The Police Station

The quest against Lancelot becomes a mission to enter the nearby Police Station, which is already under siege.

The addition of black cards indicates further police officers or zombies appearing at the windows of the building.

If a Survivor completes the Police Station quest, they gain the Riot Armour.

[edit] The Dragon / The Army Base

Once the Police Station has been cleared, the military will begin to show an interest in Camelot Mall.

The addition of black cards indicates further army personnel and vehicles arriving on the scene.

[edit] Excalibur / The Gun Store

The Gun Store opens directly onto the street, and the windows have been smashed - drawing an Excalibur card means that a zombie has wandered into the Store, and it must be disposed of or distracted before the Survivors can search the shop for firearms.

Rather than use the existing Excalibur track, the Gun Store can instead be populated with Zombie tokens - drawing an Excalibur card means that you add a Zombie to the Gun Store; playing a card means that you remove one. The Gun Store should therefore start with six zombies inside it - the Survivors win if they kill them all, and lose if the Store has eleven zombies inside it.

Upon completing this quest, the Survivors gain the Hunting Rifle.

[edit] The Holy Grail / The Hospital

Across the street from Camelot Mall is St Jude's Hospital, which is on fire. Despair cards become Fire cards, and indicate the level of the fire in the building - Grail cards become Firefight cards, and are played to extinguish the blaze.

Completing this quest means that the fire has been completely cleared, and the Survivors are able to loot Medical Supplies from within the hospital.

[edit] Picts and Saxons / Zombies

The Picts and Saxons both become Zombies, who will appear periodically on either road leading into the Camelot Mall Car Park. Losing either of these quests will result in two Zombies making their way into the main Car Park.

[edit] Camelot / The Mall

When Survivors choose to stay in Camelot Mall as their turn's action, they are considered to be searching it for useful supplies.

Where Knights would attempt to fight the Siege Engines in the Siege Area, the Survivors are attacking Zombies in the Car Park.

[edit] Characters

[edit] King Arthur / The Reporter

A local news reporter who arrived at the mall in a station helicopter. Their natural charisma has seen them adopted as the leader of the survivors.

[edit] Sir Galahad / The Athlete

Fleeing the city across the rooftops, the athlete is now hiding out with the other survivors in the mall. The athlete's natural agility allows them to perform extra actions during their turn.

[edit] Sir Gawain / The Shopper

Trapped here when the outbreak began, the shopper has grown ever more familiar with their local mall's stores and facilities. The shopper has a better idea of where to look for useful supplies when looting the building.

[edit] Sir Kay / Military Deserter

The last surviving member of a cleanup squad sent into Camelot Mall, this officer has assumed the worst and has joined the survivors rather than returning to the army base. The military deserter carries a combat knife, which allows the playing of an extra fight card at the end of a combat.

[edit] Sir Palamedes / The Medic

An ambulance driver from St Jude's, the medic is able to heal their own wounds after a successful mission.

[edit] Sir Percival / Mall Security

The mall security officer has access to the building's external security cameras, and a radio link to its alarm systems, providing an early warning of what's coming.

[edit] Sir Tristan / The Biker

The biker keeps his Harley parked in an atrium of Camelot Mall, and can use it to travel from the mall to another location without paying the usual action cost for movement.

[edit] The Traitor / The Infected

After a Survivor has been revealed as being Infected, they flee the mall to die, and rise into the ranks of the undead. Becoming a zombie in this manner allows them to draw further zombies into the Car Park, and to unsettle the remaining survivors by thumping at the windows, or breaking down thinly-barricaded entry points.

If the Infected was carrying the Hunting Rifle or the Medical Supplies when they turned, the items are dropped are lost. The Infected will continue to wear the Riot Armour, however.
